We are just over a week away from one of the first huge exclusive games of 2018, God Of War. God Of War has been a flagship title for Sony since the days of the PlayStation 2. Both God Of War 1 and 2 were released on the PlayStation 2. God Of War Chains Of Olympus and God Of War Ghost Of Sparta were both released for the PlayStation Portable.
It is the PlayStation 3 though that is the ultimate machine for God Of War fans as not only were God Of War 3 and God Of War Ascension released, two collections featuring the other four games were also released, meaning that you could play the whole God Of War saga on the PlayStation 3….. until now. That is because God Of War (no 4 in the title) is about to be released for PlayStation 4. It is a new game on a new console and it features a new take on Kratos.
This is not the first time Kratos has appeared on the PlayStation 4, there was a remastered version of God Of War 3 a few years back, but this is his first new adventure and new is the best way to describe what God Of War is all about.
This time instead of ancient Greece, Norse Mythology is what the story is about, the Blades Of Chaos that mowed down thousands of enemies in the previous games have been replaced with a battle ax that has a kind of Thor’s Mjolnir look and feel about it.
What is really intriguing about this new God Of War game is not just the setting, but the story itself. Kratos is not alone, he as a son young boy called Atreus. If you have played the God Of War series then you know the tragic backstory of what happened to Kratos’s wife and his previous child. So seeing Kratos as a dad, but still, an ass-kicking warrior is a very interesting take. Atreus will follow you around, help out when needed and be a major part of the story. It looks like he is going to be very similar to Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite or Ellie in The Last Of Us.
God Of War is going to be a huge game for Sony and also take the series in a new direction. Without a doubt, this is one game that all PlayStation 4 owners need to keep an eye open for.
