I would say that the most popular game to watch as an ESport is League Of Legends, it
offers teamwork, exciting action and it is just all round generally awesome. Well as a fan I
am very interesting to see how the “professional franchises” that are coming to the League Of
Legends professional circuit in 2018 will change the game, not so much the way it is played,
but the way it is presented and the way that it is seen by the masses.
The North American League of Legends Championship Series is going to be based on ten full
time teams. What is interesting is that as far as I can tell, this is a closed league with no
relegation and no way for a new to get promoted to it. The only way a new team can
potentially get in on the North American League of Legends Championship Series is if they
are willing to pay their way in and become a new franchise.
I get why people may not be super into this, but with this should come bigger prize pools and
better production for the events themselves which are already impressive, but I think they
could become a much larger spectacle by going down the franchise route.
The way the North American League of Legends Championship Series seems to be very
interesting and while I get that having franchises means it is a pretty much closed league
may not be to everyone’s taste, I for one am very excited to see how this unfolds next year.
Especially considering some of the teams are ones I have seen play before and then there
are brand new teams who will be making their major debut in this league and I am excited to
see these guys play together.
