It has been a big week for Sonic The Hedgehog, James Marsden is going to be starring in the Sonic The Hedgehog live action movie coming in 2019. Plus a brand new game in the Sonic Racing series has been revealed.
Sonic is no stranger to racing games, Sonic Drift on the Sega Game Gear and Sonic R were released in the 90’s. However, it was Sonic And Sega All-Stars Racing on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii that really showed how good a racing game with Sonic could be.
It was a smash hit, it was a ton of fun to play and at the time it looked incredible. I have to be honest and say that I thought that first Sonic Racing game was a million times better than what Nintendo did with Mario Kart Wii!
The second game, Sonic And Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed allowed you to race in the air and on the sea and also introduced a really fun career mode that made the game just as much fun to play in single player as it was multiplayer.
Sega has teased the latest game in the series, Sonic Team Racing and it is coming out in Winter 2018. The teaser trailer did not show anything apart from Sonic and Shadow, Shadow was interesting as he was actually in a car where before he was on his bike.
What we do know is that the game is going to have 15 characters (with most likely more as DLC) and there will be three different classes of racer, power, technique, and speed. You actually race as a team so you can share power ups and do team up moves which sound pretty interesting as games like this are usually all about looking out for number one!
I am a huge fan of the last two Sonic Racing games so this is one game that is certainly going to be something I am looking forward to seeing more of at this year’s E3.
