I have talked about Star Wars Battlefront II quite a lot over the past few months. I purchased the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition for PlayStation 4 and I was actually very excited for the game before it was released.
Star Wars Battlefront II had a very fun campaign. I know that some people felt it was disappointing, but I really did enjoy it and felt that Iden Versio was a really cool character and the whole cast actually was a lot of fun.
Of course, we all know that EA got far too greedy, so greedy that you could argue that their approach to this game has changed the way loot boxes and progression in games will be handled forever.
With that being said, EA has been trying to fix the wrongs that they did (kind of like Darth Vader at the end of Return Of The Jedi) and the latest part of that comes in a new patch that unlocks all of the characters and vehicles. The grind to unlock characters was truly brutal and I will be honest and tell you that it made me lose interest in the game very quickly. I have not played Star Wars Battlefront II for a little while, but finally being able to play as everyone might just suck me back in…. might is the keyword.
I worry that for people like me, people who pre-ordered and played Star Wars Battlefront II at or close to launch, the time for this game has come and gone. No matter if it is Fortnite, PUBG, Sea Of Thieves or something else upcoming like God Of War IV. Many people only have so much time to dedicate to games and despite EA’s attempts to fix things, many people’s time with Battlefront II may have already passed.
On the flip side of this, if you have not yet picked up Star Wars Battlefront II, I would actually highly recommend that you do. A new player coming into this is going to have a great time as the campaign is fun, the multiplayer is good and you do not have to deal with that brutal grind that the rest of us did.
