As you no doubt know, Star Wars Battlefront 2 was officially announced and I am very interested and wanted to share a few thoughts about it. I got the original Star Wars Battlefront (well the reboot) on launch day and at first was amazed by the graphics, sound and general atmosphere, but after a few days, I realized there was not a whole lot to the game. I had fun with it while I played it, but it was like it had no soul. Plus the very aggressive stance on DLC right from the get go turned me off a bit as well.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 though sounds like it has listened to the fan criticism and are fixing some of the main issues that I know I personally had with the game. First of all, there is now an actual single player campaign. From an offline point of view, the last Battlefront game was terrible. Sure they added a bunch of stuff, but by then it was too late. Playing as a new character in a story that is actually going to be cannon is awesome. Plus it has been said characters like Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren will be playable in the game. The fact they are mixing in the prequels, original trilogy, and the current movies is something I think is really cool.
As well as a campaign, the other thing that got me excited was the lack of a season pass! The only DLC I bought for the original Battlefront was the Death Star and while fun I think the ten bucks I paid for it was a little overpriced. EA this time have said that there will be no season pass. I am sure they will have their hand out asking for money for some kind of DLC, but at least it shows they were listening to people's complaints last time.
So yeah, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a game I am very excited for and as of right now it is actually mu most anticipated shooter of the year! We are always quick to paint EA as these huge villains, but sometimes they do show that they listen to what the fans have to say.
