Sega Genesis Classics Collection Coming Later This Year

Sega Genesis Classics Collection Coming Later This Year

Ok so this is not exactly groundbreaking news as Sega have rereleased their classics so many times that it is crazy, but getting the chance to play 50 of their “best” games on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is really cool.

It is a similar collection to what they put out on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 a few years back. Of course, you have the classics like Sonic The Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Streets Of Rage, Shinobi, Phantasy Star, Alex Kidd, Shadow Dancer, Wonder Boy and many more. But there are some games that appear to be missing (unless I have missed them) such as Outrun and Hang On!

As well as the game, some cool features are also being added to this collection. You can rewind your game, which is great if you screw up and a feature that came in really handy on the SNES Mini. Lots of different filters, save stats and of course multiplayer and trophy/achievement support.

As well as console, Steam is also listed as one of the platforms that the Sega Genesis Classics Collection will be released on. May 29th is the release date for this and it is a collection that I feel is well worth picking up.

Hold On!!!!!!! There is something missing from this announcement isn’t there? PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam…… where is the Nintendo Switch? It is very odd that there is no announcement for the Nintendo Switch for this collection as having a collection of 50 games when you are on the go would be ideal. Sega has released games on the Nintendo Switch already so hopefully this is eventually going to come to the Nintendo Switch.

Depending on where you pick this collection up, it can work out that you are paying less than a buck per game! Now that is awesome!
