Like most Nintendo Switch owners, I have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on pre-order and I cannot wait. Still, I must admit that I do have some thoughts on what the next installment of the Mario Kart franchise will be and I wanted to share a few things that I would like to see in the next Mario Kart game for the Nintendo Switch. In all honesty, I think Nintendo nailed it with Mario Kart 8 so I would really not want the gameplay to change all that much.
Time For Nintendo Kart
Hey, I am not saying drop the Mario Kart name, but I think the time has come to really open up the series. They have done this a little with the inclusion of things like Link, Animal Crossing, F-Zero, and Splatoon. But just imagine if Nintendo really cut loose and had a Mario Kart game that was like a Super Smash Bros version of Mario Kart! With a ton of fan service and characters and tracks from all different Nintendo games.
An Adventure Mode
The chances of us getting another Diddy Kong racing are slim to none, but that is one of my all-time favorite kart racers. I loved the adventure mode and would really like to see something similar in a Mario Kart game. Even if it forced you to just play as a couple of specific characters (most likely Mario and Luigi) I think it would be a game mode that could add another dimension to the Mario Kart series.
There have been some other modes added to Mario Kart over the years, but one of my all-time favorites has to be the Mission Mode from Mario Kart DS. I had so much fun with this and the fact it forced you to play as specific characters was awesome. You have no idea how much I would love to see this mode return in a more in depth and difficult way. Mission Mode was great for really perfecting your Mario Kart skills.
So that is just three of the things I would love to see Nintendo think about adding in their next Mario Kart game. I would love to know what things other people would like to see added or maybe even taken away.
