Hey, guys, gaming news is a bit thin on the ground today so I thought I would take this opportunity to talk about gaming sequels. More specifically a gaming sequel that I would love to get, but I know there is no chance in hell of that happening. The game I am talking about is Splatterhouse. But I am sure many of you guys have a game that you love, want a sequel for, but deep down know it will never happen.
The Splatterhouse I am talking about is not the original series that started in the arcades before making its home on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. The Splatterhouse I am talking about is the reboot that was released in 2010 on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, you know the one that every reviewer said was garbage and as a result, the game sold about three copies!
Well, Splatterhouse was a fantastic game. It had a couple of issues, but no way did it deserve a lot of the 3’s and 4’s out of ten that it was getting. Splatterhouse had an awesome story. The game was really well written and you playing as Rick, really do want to save your hot girlfriend. Gameplay wise, Splatterhouse was just all about balls to the wall action. It was violent, bloody and over the top… exactly like the original games were, yet for some reason, reviewers at the time blasted the game for this and unfortunately, people seemed to take notice and there are many people out there who insist, Splatterhouse is a terrible game despite never playing it.
I really think these reviews and the negative word of mouth associated with them hurt Splatterhouse, hurt it in a way where there is no way a sequel is going to happen. Which really sucked as the game did kind of end of a cliffhanger and damn it I want to know what happened next, but I know I never will.
So I would love to hear from you guys about games that were released, you loved, but will never get a sequel due to low sales or others not seeing the brilliance in them like you do.
