We all knew it was coming, but at E3, Nintendo told us that Fortnite Battle Royale was coming to the Nintendo Switch and not only that but that it was also going live later that day.
I have put a lot of time into Fortnite on the PlayStation 4, but I moved onto Xbox One where I put even more time into it so I thought what the heck, I might as well start on the Nintendo Switch version too. I have also played on my iPhone and was very happy with how the game played on there so I had high hopes for the Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite Battle Royale.
So far I have played a couple of hours of it and it is good. It is Fortnite Battle Royale, but I think it falls somewhere in between the other console versions and the handheld versions. The graphics I think are a little rough around the edges, I know that in a game like this graphics do not matter. But there is a fair bit more pop in than there is on the Xbox and PS4.
I have also noticed a lot of slow down. I know the game has been live less than 24 hours so that will be fixed no doubt, but when I have gotten into one on one battles with other players slow down seems to be more common than not. I have been in big firefights where everything runs smooth, it only happens in one on one fights which is weird.
The rumbling of the Nintendo Switch controller is driving me nuts. I have this feature turned off on Xbox One, but for the life of me, I cannot find a way to do it on the Nintendo Switch! The rumbling of the Nintendo Switch controller, especially the pro controller is really, really obnoxious!
I think that the fact that Fortnite Battle Royale is now on the Nintendo Switch is awesome and I am sure for many people this will be there go to way for playing the game. I have had fun and as my Nintendo Switch is in my game room and my Xbox One and PS4 are in the living room, I think I will play it every now and again.
Hopefully, Nintendo can work with Epic Games to have some kind of exclusive Nintendo themed content as that is a way that could sway me and I am sure many other people to the Switch as their preferred way to play Fortnite.
