Donkey Kong On The Nintendo Switch

Donkey Kong On The Nintendo Switch

Ok, so it’s a given that at some point during the Nintendo Switch’s life we are going to see an adventure from everyone’s favorite ape, Donkey Kong. With that being said it has got me thinking, what kind of Donkey Kong game would be great for the Nintendo Switch?

I have really enjoyed the two (well three if your count the 3DS) Donkey Kong Country Returns games we have had. They were well-made platform games that were a ton of fun, hard as balls, but a ton of fun. I do think that it is time for a brand new 3D Donkey Kong game.
Donkey Kong 64 was a pretty good game and I think that it does still hold up to this day. Sure no other game in history has required that you collect as much crap as Donkey Kong 64, but it was still a good time and I would go as far as saying it is one of the best games on the Nintendo 64.

I would love to see what Nintendo could do with Donkey Kong in a 3D world now that they have the power of the Nintendo Switch to play with. I think a game where you play as Donkey Kong, but use characters like Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky (like in Tropical Freeze) for special abilities in a 3D setting would be very, very cool.
While I really want to see a 3D Donkey Kong game. Donkey Kong is such an iconic character that I feel we could have a 2D and a 3D game on the same console. There are 2D and 3D Mario games on the same console, so why not Donkey Kong?

I am going to go one further and say that we need classic arcade style Donkey Kong back! There was a tremendous Donkey Kong game on the original GameBoy back in the day that took the arcade Donkey Kong and made something new (well new for 94) and cool out of it. I would love to see this style of game return.
So there you have it. My thoughts on how Donkey Kong could go on the Nintendo Switch. I would love to hear what other DK fans have to say in regards to what they want in the next Donkey Kong game.
