2018 is a huge year for video games and a few weeks ago I did a blog post talking about how October 2018 is one of the biggest months in the history of gaming. So many huge titles are coming out around the same time. One of those big titles, arguably one of the big three has changed its release date.
The game in question, of course, is Battlefield V and it is now coming out on November 20th instead of the crazy month that is October. Just to give you an idea of how crazy October 2018 for video games is. Here are some of the big games, the biggest two are Call Of Duty Black Ops IIII and Red Dead Redemption II.
However, as well as this there is also Assassins Creed Odyssey, Forza Horizon 4, WWE 2K19, Soul Calibur 6, Super Mario Party and one I feel could be a sleeper hit, Starlink Battle for Atlas which is trying to do the whole toys to life thing again.
EA has come out and said that the reason they are moving Battlefield V to the 20th of November because they want to make sure the game is as good as it possibly can be for the fans. While this may in part be true. You would have to say that getting a sales beating from Black Ops IIII and Red Dead II is the real reasons. Battlefield V had been tipped by industry experts to be the big game that disappointed in terms of sales this holiday season.
Putting the release date back a month should help it stand out from all those other big releases and let Battlefield V shine. I think that Battlefield V looks fantastic and with the nightmare that EA and DICE had when they launched Star Wars Battlefront II last year. They really cannot afford for a similar thing to happen with Battlefield V.
