One of my most anticipated games of the year has to be Mortal Kombat 11. When NetherRealm rebooted the series back in 2011, I was blown away with what they did. They changed the way that story was told in a fighting game and once again MK was a huge deal.
The sequel Mortal Kombat X was also a fantastic game although I felt that the story was not quite as good as it was with the previous game. Still, MK X packed in so much content that I wondered how they were going to top it.
Well, more and more footage has been shown for Mortal Kombat 11 and it looks fantastic. Once again it appears a ton of work has gone into the story of this game. The way the story of this new Mortal Kombat has gone is amazing. Now we have a Raiden who has well and truly gone off the deep end in doing what he thinks is right. I never in a million years thought we would get a Raiden like this, but it works!
There is a brand new character to the story, Kronika. She is a time traveler and it looks to me that her ability to travel to different points in the Mortal Kombat timeline is something that is going to play very heavily in the story. One thing that I was surprised not to see much of was the “Kombat Kids” that were introduced in Mortal Kombat X, I actually really liked these and hope they have a part to play in Mortal Kombat 11.
If you ask me this is going to be the biggest fighting game of 2011 and I might even go as far to say that this could be one of the biggest games of the year in general.
