Job Listing Shows Nintendo Is Working On Next Zelda Game

Ok so this may not be breaking news and if you are like me you have just assumed that the next Legend of Zelda game was being planned even before Breath of the Wild was shipped out the door.

Still, it is pretty cool to get actual confirmation that Nintendo is hard at work on the next game in the Legend of Zelda series. We know this because in Japan there was a job listing from Nintendo. It is actually two job listings, a 3DCG designer and a level designer. The most interesting aspect of this is that the job listings specify dungeons.

Now, if you have played through Breath of the Wild. For as awesome as that game is, you know that there was a lack of traditional Zelda style dungeons in it. This was actually the main criticism that I and many other Zelda fans had with the game. It appears from this job listing that Nintendo knows this and will put dungeons back in the game.

This also raises many questions. The big one I have is will the next Legend of Zelda game be released for the Nintendo Switch? Nintendo already has a wonderful game engine in Breath of the Wild so I for one would be cool with them using many of the assets from that and making a true sequel. Kind of like what they did with Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask.

It took six years to get from Skyward Sword on the Nintendo Wii to Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch. The Wii U did actually get four Legend of Zelda games. Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Hyrule Warriors and also Breath of the Wild. However, the Nintendo Wii U despite all the Zelda love it got, never actually got its very own Zelda game.

If they use many of the same assets that Breath of the Wild had then hopefully it will take nowhere near as long to play the next Legend of Zelda game.
